Alternative Provision

Alternative Provision at Living Nature

At Living Nature, we believe that every child deserves a learning environment where they can thrive. For some children, mainstream school doesn’t work — not because something is wrong with them, but because the environment isn’t right for them.

We are developing a part-time alternative provision strand rooted in nature, creativity and genuine community. It is not a school. It is a held, seasonal community learning space where children can grow at their own pace, alongside adults who trust them.

Who Is This For?

We welcome children and young people aged 5–16 who may be:

  • Struggling in mainstream education
  • Experiencing anxiety, low confidence, or school-related stress
  • Identified as SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities)
  • At risk of exclusion or currently out of school
  • Looking for a more creative, flexible, or therapeutic learning experience

Referrals can come from parents, schools, local authorities, or other professionals. We’re always happy to talk through your child’s needs and help you decide if our provision is the right fit.

What We Offer

Our provision is part-time, nature-based, and community-held. Sessions take place outdoors at Werneth Low Country Park and at The Learning Hive — our developing nature-based learning community. Activities include seasonal nature connection, creative making, practical land-based work, storytelling and free exploration.

Currently

We are in the early stages of developing our alternative provision offer. If you are a school, parent or professional looking for nature-based provision for a child, we would love to have a conversation.
