Creating calmer classrooms and connected school communities

In today’s schools, the pressures are real: heavy workloads, stretched budgets, rising emotional needs, and staff wellbeing that too often feels like another item on the to-do list. Yet when teachers feel supported and children are given simple tools to manage their emotions, the whole school community benefits — behaviour improves, classrooms calm down, parents feel reassured, and learning becomes more enjoyable.

At Living Nature, Josie offers a unique blend of expertise as a qualified therapist, experienced teacher, SLT member, and mindfulness/yoga practitioner. She understands both the big picture of school improvement and the everyday reality of the classroom. Josie’s approach is practical, engaging, and non-judgemental. She doesn’t add to staff workload — she helps make it lighter, calmer, and more sustainable.

Her passion is to work alongside schools as a trusted partner, providing the right balance of training, in-class support, and wellbeing provision for children. The result? Calmer classrooms, happier staff, and stronger school communities.

Our School Wellbeing Pathway

Our pathway offers schools three levels of support — from a taster twilight session to a whole wellbeing day and finally a term-long partnership. Each step is designed to be flexible, practical, and easy to integrate, giving teachers and pupils tools that make classrooms calmer, staff more supported, and the whole school community more connected.

Step 1: Try It – Staff Taster Evening

A one-hour twilight session giving your staff a real taste of wellbeing in action.

What’s included:

  • Practical tools for classroom calm and teacher wellbeing
  • Cooperative learning strategies (experienced by doing, not theory)
  • Space to reflect on what’s working and where the pain points are
  • A supportive, non-judgemental space to connect as colleagues

Impact: Staff leave with strategies they can use immediately and a renewed sense of energy and connection.

Step 2: Wellbeing Day (or Split Sessions)

A deeper dive for schools wanting more than a taster, but not ready for a full-term commitment.

What’s included:

  • Staff CPD (continuous professional development): A day (or two twilight sessions) of practical strategies — emotional regulation, behaviour as communication, classroom calm, and easy-to-integrate systems.
  • In-Class Support: Non-judgemental coaching and modelling, helping teachers apply strategies straight away
  • Pupil Workshops: Introductory mindfulness, journalling, and emotional regulation tools
  • Practical Systems: Simple time-saving routines like pupil roles, team structures, and mixed-ability groupings
  • After-School Wellbeing Club: A session planned and delivered by me, showing wellbeing in action with pupils

Impact: A whole-school wellbeing boost with visible benefits for staff and pupils — without adding to teacher workload.

Step 3: Term-Long Partnership (1 Day a Week)

For schools ready to embed wellbeing into their culture.

What’s included:

  • A consistent presence in school one day a week across a term
  • Small-group and 1:1 pupil support (drop-ins, creative therapy, wellbeing groups)
  • Ongoing in-class teacher support and reflective spaces
  • Sustained pupil sessions: mindfulness, journalling, creative expression, and nature-based learning
  • A wellbeing audit to track and measure impact
  • Flexibility to adapt as needs arise

Impact: Builds momentum across a term, reduces staff stress, and creates calmer, happier classrooms that last beyond the programme.

Partnerships & Funding

We know budgets are tight. That’s why we work in partnership with schools to:

  • Pilot affordable programmes at a discounted rate
  • Apply jointly for external funding (lottery, trusts, wellbeing pots) to sustain provision long-term
  • Build flexible models that fit your needs and priorities

This isn’t a one-size-fits-all service. It’s about working together — practically and creatively — to create a calmer, happier school community.
